OUR PURPOSE

To provide Heidelberg High School graduating seniors who have been accepted to attend Alcorn State University scholarship monies to complete their college degrees.

OUR GOAL

To provide one or more scholarships to Heidelberg High seniors. Scholarship will be effective for (5) years or until the recipient completes a baccalaureate degree if completed sooner.

FINANCIAL SOURCE

Alcorn State Alumnus and Athletic Hall of Famer, Dennis Thomas, donated $500,000 to Alcorn State University for the purpose of establishing an Endowed Scholarship in the name of his parents, Russell and Marjorie Thomas. The interest/investment income from the $500,000 donation will be used on an annual basis to award Heidelberg High students who will attend Alcorn State University.

The Key to Achievement

01.

Students must have graduated from Heidelberg High School.

02.

Students must live in Heidelberg or surrounding communities (e.g., Vossburg, Pauling, or other communities in Jasper County where students attend Heidelberg High.

03.

Students must be in good standing at Heidelberg High and in the Heidelberg community with no criminal record.

04.

Students must complete all financial aid forms required by Alcorn State University.

05.

Students shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 in college preparatory courses or higher, (e.g., Advance Placement courses (AP)).

06.

While attending Alcorn State, student shall maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for each semester.  Student will lose the RMTES if they fail to maintain their 2.5 GPA during any semester.

07.

RMTES will financially pay for the education expenses that the student’s selected financial aid doesn’t cover.
